Did anyone else notice that despite his concern for and wanting to reconnect with his sister, at no point does Blitzo try to apologize or otherwise take ownership of whatever it is he did that clearly HURT Barbie Wire so much in the past?
Which I think makes for a very notable and interestingcontrast to how Moxxie handled his relationship problems/screw-ups this episode.
Like I’m starting to think that the M&Ms posing as siblings this episode wasn’t just setup for a joke, but also so they can act as a foil to how Blitzo is handling, and screwing up, his own relationship/family issues.
i feel like we should talk about the classism also portrayed in Nimona
like the whole thing of ballister not being of noble blood, him being a street kid?
ofc there’s the homophobia/transphobia aspect but i haven’t really seen anyone talk about the classism in it
the director literally claims that the start of the “crack in the wall” is the queen giving ballister a chance to prove himself and become a knight
she is fully blaming the prospect of giving non-noble lower class people a chance to become knights as a catalyst for the opportunity for “monsters” to invade or whatever
the queen letting ballister train to be a knight, and her wanting to allow anyone (aka ‘commoners’) to do the same? giving underprivileged people the same opportunities as those that are privileged? and the director finding that so “wrong” or offensive that she literally kills her??
do note that this will probably mean US phones will follow this standard as well, as manufacturing streams are much easier to maintain as streamlined as possible, and having two separate standards like this makes it more of an expensive hassle for a company
this is also known as the Brussels Effect, where a regulation in one part of the world (usually the EU) results in new global standards.
I ask again, what is the purpose of school resource officers other than to instill discomfort in the student body? Other than to brutalize and single out select “problem” students at random, often marginalized ones? There was not one single time during my academic career when I was glad there was a school resource officer in the school. It was a teacher who disarmed a student at my school. Every time there was a violent brawl, it was a teacher who inserted themselves in the middle to stop it. It is teachers who put themselves in front of gunmen to protect their students while the coward cop sticks his thumb in his ass in the parking lot.
Tumblr is thinking of implementing an algorithm instead of the current following feed to ‘help smaller creators get in front of people’ and I’m like that’s what putting tags on your posts is for?
I’ve curated my following feed over YEARS and I don’t want it all of a sudden junked up with shit I’m not interested in because of some fucking algorithm. If smaller creators want to be seen, then they should put stuff in the tags. Putting random people’s shit all over my feed is not going to make me want to engage with it.
The reason why so many people like this website is because you are in control of tailoring your experience on here. But what that requires is some work— you can’t just come on here and expect it to be immediately altered to you personally. That being said, an algorithm that just throws shit at you that it thinks you’ll like is not the answer. At the end of the day it’s going to actually make it harder for people to tailor their experience on here, which will make the site worse.
In case you were wondering how screwed we all are:
The fossil fuel industry has successfully completed their infiltration and takeover of the COP climate conference. The president of COP 28 is going to be an Oil CEO.
Current Age: 37. Gonna be upfront about that. Identity: Genderfluid who loves the ladies. Status: Tired and angry and annoying.
